Eye Exams in Vancouver — What to Know

Is my eye exam covered by MSP?

BC MSP covers one comprehensive eye exam per year for patients 18 and under or 65 and older. Adults aged 19–64 are not covered for routine exams, but many extended health plans include vision care. We'll help confirm your coverage before your visit.

How long does a comprehensive eye exam take?

Plan for approximately 45–60 minutes. This includes a full health and vision assessment, refraction, and time to discuss your results with Dr. Chow. First visits may take a little longer.

Do you see children for eye exams?

Yes — we recommend children have their first eye exam at age 3, and annually throughout school years. Dr. Chow is experienced with young patients and myopia management using MiyoSmart lenses.

Can I get contact lenses fitted here?

Absolutely. We offer complete contact lens exams and custom fittings for new and experienced wearers, including specialty fits for astigmatism and presbyopia. Same-day trials are often available.

How often should I have my eyes examined?

Adults should have a comprehensive eye exam every one to two years, or annually if you wear corrective lenses or have a family history of eye disease. Dr. Chow will recommend the right schedule for your needs.
